The question I have recently come to face is, should you mix friends and family? You have family friends and you have friends who become your family and then there’s just your separate friends. But if you are a close knit family, your friends are defiantly going to be invited round and they will get to know your family. With that analogy, I guess there is no option; inevitably your friends and family will become one. The only problem I have now is, I have had a pretty huge argument with my closest friend.

I would rather never see him again, but my family is still friends with him. He still gets invited round, I try my best to stay away, but it is my home after all. My family are all trying to help make the peace between us, but I don’t see it happening. I think we are well and truly over. The bond we once had is no more. I guess we could be amicable for the sake of others around us, but there will always be that chill in the air when we are both in the same room. I wish my friends could remain separate entities from my family. This is the philosophy I will follow in future.

Surprise ticket

I recently moved countries, leaving all that I knew and loved behind me. My friends, my family, my pet guinea pig. I had admittedly tried to smuggle my guinea pig onto the plane with me, but they caught me at X-ray. I hope they give him a good home. I cried like I’ve never cried before. I was only going away for 2 years, but it seemed like forever. I couldn’t afford to come back during that time; it would have been too expensive for me. Too my utter surprise however one morning I awoke to find an international letter on my doorstep.

It was a return plane ticket to go back home!! My friends and family had all banded together, chipped in and bought me this ticket. They had all missed me so much; they couldn’t wait the full two years until they saw me again. I can’t believe what great friends I have, I never thought for a second that they would do this for me. It has showed me the true friendship I have with the ones I have left back home. Our bond is strong enough to withstand the time and distance we will endure.

Super Granddad

The saying goes, ‘you can choose your friends, but not your family’ sometimes I wish it was the other way round. I would like to choose my family. If I had to chose, I guess I would have four granddads, one brother and one sister, and a mum and dad that would stay out of my business, and I could visit them when I wanted! I love my granddad, I think he is the world’s best grandfather, and wish everyone could have someone like him in their families. He is so great I want four of him!

He recently passed away, a heart attack, and I miss him dearly. My friends have all been there for me with their support, and love, but it’s just not the same, they can’t bring back my Grampy. We had some good times, and I will treasure the memories forever. The moral of this story is, don’t take for granted the ones you care about. Each moment is precious.

Celebrate Christmas together and make the most of it because there are millions of people that won’t have family and friends around to share the magical time of Christmas with. Have fun, but also reflect on how lucky you are and think about those people that have less than you.

It is important to give to charity around Christmas to give people suffering and less fortunate than you another chance to enjoy the festive period. Have fun with your family and friends and reflect on your place in society and be grateful that you can have a great Christmas while others may not be having such a good time. Make the most of it.

Playing in the snow

Winter is a great time for family and friends alike. With the snow often comes an increased sense of community spirit as neighbours, family and friends meet to play in the snow or maybe just to take it the white carpet that covers their street. Winter gives neighbourhoods a common event to talk about such with Halloween, bonfire night and Christmas all happening in the same season. A great time for family and friends for sure with so much happiness and warmth in a cold time of year being felt.

Make sure you make the effort with friends and family because there is no better time than in the Winter months. Celebrate Christmas together as one, one family, one community and reap the rewards.

Keep your family warm

As we approach the colder winter months, keep your family wrapped up and warm in several layers of clothing. It is so important that you keep everyone, especially younger members of your family warm to avoid illness and discomfort. Some great advice is to buy them a thick scarf and pair of gloves, it’s amazing the difference these two items make.
Another tip is to leave your coat off until the second you step outside, this way you will feel warmer and not colder as you step from your warm heated home out into the harsh, cold open air of the atmosphere.

Wrap up and keep all your family warm and enjoy the cold weather and hope for snow!

Halloween with the family

Halloween is a great opportunity for family to get together and share the excitement of the time of year that is all about witches and black cats. Its true though, I have seen a ghost before so I am a believer in all that stuff. It’s great to see family get together, dress up in black bin bags and go around their neighbourhood asking for sweets, good times. It is almost like preparation for Christmas, just with more face paint and fake cats.

It is also a good time for friends to share a common interest and activity. Halloween is all about the buzz and excitement, especially with the young, although I know many adults that enjoy dressing up and scaring the school kids as they walk home, it is pretty scary but funny at the same time!

Just enjoy Halloween this year please, and watch out for real ghosts…they are out there.

More Family Time

It can be very difficult indeed to juggle a career and continue to raise a family. It is however possible as long as you make sure you make time for yourself to de-stress and to relax. Working a full day at work, making business decisions and choices can be very tiring and stressful, going home to continue to manage your family can be equally demanding.
Sometimes it can help if you try and include your children in your career, even if you all leave the house together and drop off your children en-route to work, this allows you to spend more time with the family.

Sometimes you need to create new routines to fit in family time around jobs and other responsibilities. Doing this will result in a tighter knit family and stronger family unit.

Show Some Gratitude

Next time you find yourself complaining about a family member, stop and think about what you have and how lucky you are to even have those people around you. In most cases the complaints are likely to be the result of over-reaction and will turn out to have been completely unnecessary, causing unwarranted hurt and grief for your family and probably yourself.This is also the case with your friends. Arguments and disagreements can be avoided as often they will have been created due to envy or people showing their insecurities. Be thankful for the family and friends in your life, without them life would be much more of struggle and without their support you will have a much tougher job at staying strong in your life.

Think about those who have little support, think about how much they want the caring support that so many of us disregard and take for granted.
